What age is reasonable for a kid to start boxing?

At what age should kids start boxing? Is 9 too young?|||i dont really know the age but i know that a kid COULD start at about 10 or 11 just let them box with with other kids.|||I started Martial Arts at 3, but I would say about 8 and above.

For helpful tips on Fighting, Fitness, and Health go to http://mikethedj4.piczo.com/.|||It%26#039;s not too young to train him. You know, hitting bags, jumping rope, hitting pads. Stuff like that you can start alot earlier. But you shouldn%26#039;t put him in a ring until about 12-13.|||12|||9 is a lttle too young like 11|||I would say nine is too young for boxing if you intend to get him to fight soon, but if you just want to spend the first few years just learning basics and hitting bags, you could set the bar all the way down to age 6 or 7. I wouldn%26#039;t say it%26#039;s a wise idea to train a fighter before he is 12. Nine might be bad, though, even if you only want to show him the basics, becuase the child will probably get overly earger with the desire to fight, and possibly even get bored with it. (At that age most children can%26#039;t dedicate themselves to such a sport, especially if it has no instant gratification)|||I would say around 12 to 15 when they tend to gain the most weight and become more muscular. Training always has the best muscle-building affect on these ages.|||9 is definatley not too young. If anything, get him started little by little into the sport. Have him practice. Put some gloves on him and let him have fun for a bit.|||i believe you should wait until (or right before) puberty.

if you start him too young (like before puberty) it could ruin his body.

I would wait until puberty (12-13 years old).

if you want to SHOW him the basics then you can do that now. but dont get him to train now. just let him have a little fun with a bag and gloves but no rigorous training.

hope that helps.
