What is the biggest shock in boxing you have ever seen?

Who have shock you in boxing winning against the odds?

Mine would be when buster douglas beat mike tyson he was 42-1 underdog|||Mike Tyson%26#039;s ear biting of Evander Hollyfield. It was gross in there.|||Being British i am going to name a few major upsets from fighters from these shores.

Randolph Turpin Vs Sugar Ray Robinson

Lloyd Honeygan Vs Donald Curry

John H Stracy Vs Jose Napoles

And very nearly

Henry Cooper Vs Muhammed Ali

I would have to say as most others have though the one that always stands out is Douglas Vs Tyson|||I think the biggest upset in boxing would be the tyson-douglas fight, I remember watching the fight with my parents, we were sure that tyson was going to win in less than 90 seconds (actually we were all betting to see how early tyson would knock him, that tyson was going to win was not even debatable) and then when the fight started it all went wrong, for the first time since i had started watching boxing tyson was not the aggressor but the victim, I remember staring at the screen waiting for that knock out punch from tyson......but it never came at the end douglas won and I swear you could slice the shock with a knife, the entire plaza was quiet as douglas became the new heavy weight champion, for me it was like a movie gone wrong, a cruel twist ending that left me shattered (like many eighties kids i was a tyson fan growing up) the closest i ever came to such a shock was when ultimate warrior beat my hero hulk hogan at wrestlemania (hey....i was just a kid at the time i thought it was real!!) I remember looking at my mom half expecting someone to come into the ring and say %26quot;candid camera!%26quot; or something.....even the news broadcasters were shocked hours later as they reported the results of the fight, i think the entire world was shocked while the few people who were crazy enough to actually bet a lot of money on douglas became rich.......it took like a day for the reality of the fight%26#039;s results to register on everyone%26#039;s mind....I know for a fact that some people haven%26#039;t gotten over it yet (even today) It took me a while before I could start watching boxing again....I think we were all so used to Mike beating everybody up and winning that we never entertained the possibility that someday he might actually loose.....that has to be the most shocking moment in boxing for me.|||2 words...ear biting|||I%26#039;m shocked when ever I see Floyd %26quot;Crybaby%26quot; Mayweather break down and cry a like a little girl after each match. I%26#039;m talking face contorting bawling not just a few tears of joy.|||Chavez -Taylor 1|||This lady boxer named Ann Wolf that hits like a man....I bet she can beat a top ten welterweight with a punch like this........http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1h-hmcnlm...|||I have to agree with you. Tyson had been knocking nearly everybody out and seemed almost invincible. Douglas a big underdog at 42-1 comes along dedicating this fight to his late Mother and gives Mike the whipping of his life. That was a shocker because not too many people expeced Douglas to last more than a few rounds with Mike. It was no fluke either as Douglas was well trained and carried out a true fight plan against Tyson beating him to the punch time after time during the fight and actually outfighting and outboxing him.

When John Stracey beat Jose Napoles for the welterweight title was also a shocker though not as great as Douglas and Tyson.

When Muhammad Ali beat George Foreman for the title, many thought he would get beat was a great shocker to many!

When Michael Spinks defeated Larry Holmes for the title would also be considered a shocker.

When Leon Spinks defeated Muhammad Ali to win the title was also a great upset.

When George Foreman knocked out Michael Moorer to win the title at his age and after such a long period of time is one of the most shocking and amazing boxing feats in history as well.

Thumbs up to ACEMAN for a great answer!|||haha I saw this guy trying to do karate

and I saw someone get punched out of the ring|||Rocky making 6 movies|||Tyson biting Holyfield%26#039;s ear.

Then Little Mac destroying Mike Tyson without getting hit once in 90|||Seeing Roy Jones get KOd the first time literally silenced a whole sportsbar!|||I have 2.

1. When Buster Douglas beat Mike Tyson, that was a real shocker. Although Tyson apparently said he really almost didn%26#039;t train for that fight, perception on Tyson is that he%26#039;s just invincible.

2. Luis Resto beating undefeated Billy Collins. Then after the fight, Collins%26#039; trainer and father discovered that Resto%26#039;s gloves%26#039; paddings were removed. Therefore beating Collins with bare hands. Collins never made it back to boxing again because of that severe beating. Collins died 8 or 9 months later in an accident, many said partly due to depression. Resto and his trainer was jailed and banned in boxing for life.|||Yeah, Tyson, with the ear.|||1st. for me would be Tyson - Douglas, %26#039;%26#039;Buster%26#039;%26#039; hammered %26#039;%26#039;Iron Bite%26#039;%26#039; all night and landed that vicious uppercut that ended it. Plus Tyson%26#039;s corner had no idea what they were doing and had what looked like a condom full of water as an icepack! That fight was the most shocking and I think everyone would agree the biggest upset in boxing history.

2nd for me Is Tyson - Holyfield 1. %26#039;%26#039;The Real Deal%26#039;%26#039; bullied and pounded the 11 - 1 favored Tyson until he knocked him out clean.

3rd. Foreman vs. Moorer, Big George was getting a boxing lesson from the southpaw and just as Larry %26#039;%26#039;Evil Eyebrows%26#039;%26#039; Merchant said, %26#039;%26#039;We have seen the last of a once proud fighter%26#039;%26#039; Foreman lands the right hand heard round the world, knocking Moorer flat out.

Those fights to me were ones that burned in my mind that the odds are no match for heart.|||I agree with 881 Chavez vs Taylor I. that was a shocker of a fight.|||I agree with the last one . When Mike Tyson bit Holyfields ear off with a million people watching!! That was a TRIP!!!|||i agree with you wow!|||When Tyson bit off Holyfields ear and when Ali beat Foreman. everybody forgets but Ali was old and was supposed to have no chance|||when that young guy beat ROCKY that was a shock for me, f that movie.|||The biggest shock I have seen is these guys making like 20-30 million to pound the crap out of each other.|||That would have to be James %26quot;Buster%26quot; Douglas knocking out the then-invincible %26quot;Iron%26quot; Mike Tyson. Not only because of the KO, or the fact that Mike was unbeatable at the time -- but more the way Buster did it. Look at the clean final shots, how Mike fell and then how he struggled to get up with his mouthpiece hanging halfway out of his mouth. Buster had everything stacked against him before that fight, including his mom passing away just a couple weeks before. What a fight and story that was.|||George forman leaving as demonic animal, finding God, and comong back as a happy engaging man with a wonderful sense of humor. There is goodness in the world from time to time.|||Vitali Klitchkos face bleeding vs Lennox Lewis.|||in very recent times, it has to be ricardo mayorga%26#039;s comments to de la hoya leading up to their match...plus the fact that he smokes in the ring after a fight...disgraceful.

In early 1998, Roy Jones, Jr. announced that he was relinquishing his WBC world Light-Heavyweight Championship. In response, the organization ordered a bout between German contender Graciano Rocchigiani and former champion Michael Nunn to fill the vacancy, sanctioning it as a world championship match.

On March 21, 1998 Rocchigiani won the fight and a WBC belt; in the subsequent WBC rankings, he was listed as 鈥淟ight-Heavyweight World Champion.%26quot; Jones, however, had a change of heart and asked if the WBC would reinstate him as the champion.

In a move that violated nearly a dozen of its own regulations, the WBC granted the reinstatement. Rocchigiani received a letter from the WBC advising that the publishing of his name as champion was a typographical error, and he had never really been the official titleholder.|||Depends how you mean shock. Ignoring your explanatory follow-up (as several others have), it has to be when Duk Koo Kim collapsed after being KO%26#039;d by Ray %26quot;Boom-Boom%26quot; Mancini. Up to the point of the KO, he had been doing well and just about holding his own against Mancini. Even the KO itself and the way he got up from it appeared to be just normal at first. Then came the collapse and %26quot;the rest is history.%26quot;|||I%26#039;d say the referee in the Hatton Mayweather fight, he was a disgrace to boxing and looked like mayweather had paid him not to let hatton get in close and get started with his rib crushing body shots! cost hatton the fight i think totaly messed with his head|||In my lifetime, I will say that most of the shocking things I%26#039;ve seen or heard have came from Mike Tyson, alone.

1. Mike Tyson biting Evander Holyfield%26#039;s ear off.

2. Mike Tyson defeated by Buster Douglas.

3. Tyson%26#039;s comments about eating Lennox Lewis%26#039; kids.|||Hi Aceman:

My favorite fighter, regardless of out of the ring difficulties, was Charles %26quot;Sonny%26quot; Liston. IMO, one of the toughest heavyweights of all time. Was far better than now given credit for. The biggest shock for me was his loss on Feb. 25, 1964 to 7-1 underdog, then Cassius Clay. Big shock to me. Liston would have been a tough win for any era champion.|||the EAR fo sho|||Tossup: Tyson getting KTFO by Buster Douglas or Roy Jones getting starched with one punch by Antonio Tarver. When that happened my face looked like the %26#039;Scream%26#039; painting.
