I need to get to doncaster/scunthorpe or at least to sheffield on boxing day from stockport/manchester. the trains arent running, i cant drive and national express takes to long. any advice would be great.thank you very much!|||If the National Express takes too long, your only option really is a taxi.
According to http://www.where2guv.com/, a taxi from Manchester Piccadilly to Doncaster on Boxing Day would be 拢114. Not cheap! Definitely worth finding a friend with a car you can buy a couple of drinks for afterwards...|||Put ona mini skirt and thumb a lift....!!!|||Looks like road is your only option. Do you have a driving friend who would go with you? Other than that, it%26#039;s the bus or a taxi.|||You haven%26#039;t left yourself many options.
Both Manchester and Doncaster have airports, so you may be able to fly between the two.

Otherwise, take the National Express and a good book to read.|||taxi|||Hitch hike or get someone to take you. There is hardly any public transport on the 25th and 26th and a couple days after this only a sunday service is running. Sux for folks like us without a car.
