How do boxing rankings work?

In boxing you can have one fighter who is ranked differently by different governing bodies.

Do they have a system or is it subjective?|||It works?

It is supposed to be on a points system (even though they dont really have to go by the points.?) It has a lot to do with promoters getting these bodies to rank their fighters.

Read this article. Kind of old but it tells the story

http://www.secondsout.com/usa/colhauser....|||some governing bodies do not rank certain boxers because they do not pay there sanctioning fees.

i%26#039;m inclined to follow the rateings in the american magazine %26quot;the ring%26quot;.

the only way to win there title is:

to take it from the champ or to have a box off between the number 1 and number 2 (1 and 3 in very rare cases)|||they work very badly. its all about the promoters and what sanction they support. go to boxingring.com to get a better ranking system. still not that solid but better that every boxing sanction which is skewed by promoters. boxingring.com is also skewed by popularity, unfortunatly.|||It%26#039;s just dumb politics
