When and why did professional boxing go from bare knuckle to gloves?

Peofessional boxing only, though I%26#039;m sure I%26#039;ll get references to ultimate fighting by someone who didn%26#039;t understand the question.|||late 19th century, no year though http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boxing|||Hands Mainly.... in the movie Undisputed the old man touches on the subject ... even though was more natural fighters would tend to throw less punches and would make boring sometimes going 20+ rounds... with gloves fighters were less likely to hurt their hands and throw more punches... thats why not only gloves fighters wrap their hands for extra protection...|||Who cares? Where and when did galvanized steel monkey bars turn into this loudly colored plastic playground crap? There is where the problem starts. They get you when you%26#039;re kids.|||2 reasons:

No gloves is too brutal and bloody.

To avoid hand injuries.|||Once the Marquess of Quisenberry rules were adopted in the late 1800s, the professional boxing in just about every country adopted them. This is when the boxing gloves as we know them now were adopted.

They were mainly adopted for safety sake and to avoid injuries. In addition to lessening the pure destruction done to each fighter%26#039;s face, it also protected their fists, enabling matches to last longer and fighters to recuperate more quickly.

Adding the gloves also added a strategic element to the fight game. The gloves could be used to block punches, unlike fist on fist.|||i don%26#039;t know when but i know for sure they use gloves to prevent serious damage that can led to death
