What genre of music serves the same purpose that the Heavyweight division of boxing does?

Let me explain: In boxing, many say that if you look at how well the heavyweight division is doing, than the same goes for the rest of the sport. For example, if the heavyweight division is lackluster at the time, then the rest of the sport is lackluster at the time. If the heavyweight division is exciting, then the sport is exciting.

So what I am asking is, what genre of music can you look at and say, %26quot;_____ is doing good/bad, so music in general is doing good/bad.|||you cant compare something like that,music has its own identity each genre offers something different.If someone is into Pop they could most certainly not care how the metal community is thriving or not and the rap with country and all around the gamet of music,they dont relate and one genres strength has no bearing on any other genres weakness.The only way that it would make some sort of sense if say one Genre is extremly weak which would make people search other forms of music and find their niche..but thats the only way, dont ever let mtv vh1 or bet be your lone source and tell you what is good/popular/ or worth listening to..explore every genre yourself, there are great artists out there in every form|||Look dude, I can%26#039;t denial that it is POP music. It is the music that everybody lovez. I am into Rap but I must admit that:

%26quot;POP is doing (well), so music in general is doing (well).%26quot;
