%26gt;I%26#039;ve seen folks use foot spray or gold bond %26quot;medicated%26quot; powder...
%26gt;Any suggestions?
Baking soda inside the gloves cuts down the smell. But it%26#039;s better to
dry them out good after each use. You can use bent coat hangers to
hold the gloves open, and the hooks on he hangers will hang the glove
up while they%26#039;re drying.
Shaving cream will condition the leather without adding weight. Used
to use it on baseball gloves for the same reason (doesn%26#039;t add weight,
like neat%26#039;s foot oil).|||use stuffed up new paper, the n spray freebrezze in to them, or leave a nice smelling bar of soap over night in them

What do I wear for a black tie boxing event?
I%26#039;m 24 and female. It%26#039;s an amateur boxing match and I have no idea what other women will be wearing!|||My suggestion would be to wear something else simple that you%26#039;re more comfortable in, (preferably in black), and dress it up with accessories. Wear a strappy, dressy, high heel in a special fabric, sheer dark hosiery (the sheerer, the dressier), and some jewelry that sparkles. Bare skin is also an indicator of dressiness, so bare arms or showing some shoulder are good options here.
Hope this helps.
Now go give me my 10 points.

How do you stop yourself from beat boxing?

How long before you can enter a boxing show?
If i was a new guy stepping into a gym/club how long would it take (ON AVERAGE) before i was good enough to have a fight in a boxing show at an amature level?|||Once your fitness level goes up, you get some sparring under your belt and your body becomes accustomed to the intensity of the training, most trainers with the old-school mentality wouldn%26#039;t let you have an actual contest for 6 to 12 months. This is partly the reason why people start boxing and drift away: Because they are too impatient, and after 2 weeks of training, they want to get in the ring and fight, and will be pestering the trainer to allow them to do so. It%26#039;s all about instant gratification. The trainer knows best (or should do, in theory), and will decide, and most likely know, when a guy is ready to get in the ring and have a contest. Listen to the trainer, and be patient.|||Paulie answered this question better then I could. He`s right try to get in shape before you rush into any fight in that squared circle.|||That would depend on your level of fitness and skill before you started. Your trainer will be able to tell when you%26#039;re ready to fight. But I would say a couple of months. You would be matched to someone of similar skill and experience, so even if you had only trained for 1 month, it%26#039;s unlikely you%26#039;ll get beaten really badly because the other guy wouldn%26#039;t have much more experience.

Is the Big Show v Mayweather a boxing or wrestling bout?
I want to know if it will be boxing (with the gloves and everything) or a normal wrestling bout?|||It is a No Holds Barred match, as announced thismorning on wwe.com.
the only way to win is by pinfall, submission or knockout, and are hyping it to be a match where it wont be stopped until somone wins.
the no holds barred as a way of covering for Mayweather%26#039;s inexperience in the ring.
Despite the fact that he%26#039;s been training hard for the match, WWE is surprised with how slow Mayweather has been to pick up many of the basics of pro wrestling. To say WWE is nervous about tonight would be an understatement.
Triple H has been assigned the task of trying to save the match from being a disaster. He has been working closely with Mayweather and Big Show over the past few days and the match will likely be heavily scripted.
A source close to Leonard Ellerbe, Floyd Mayweather%26#039;s manager, says that WWE has a major surprise for everyone at WrestleMania.

How can I punch faster without boxing equipment?
I dont have a punching bag. Only 8 pound weights and shadow boxing skills.|||Just punch air, or %26quot;jab.%26quot; Do 100 punches, 50 with each hand, until your arms don%26#039;t hurt, but not particularly trying to punch straight. After that do 100 as fast and as straight as you can. After that is a breeze for you find something with weight to it, 5lbs or less, and do the 100 punches again (I recommend starting with 2 lbs), and still as fast as your arm can go. It doesn%26#039;t need to be a %26quot;weight%26quot; so to speak, but any object with weight to it (book, paperweight, shoe, etc.). If you don%26#039;t have 2 of the objects than do one hand at a time, 50 punches each. After 2lbs becomes a breeze raise it to 5, then 7, etc. Never go up more than 2 or 3 lbs as your joints need to adjust to the weight. This is called resistance training, believe me, after you do your first 100 punches holding 5 lbs in each hand, when you put down those weights your arms feel as light as pencils, and you won%26#039;t believe how quick you can move them. The best resistance training, however, is done underwater. Get into a pool or lake neck-deep and do the 100 hundred punches as fast as you can. You will feel immediate results. The great thing about water is that the stronger and faster you punch the more resistance it gives you, so you can probably train for speed with the water method alone an see awesome results. Have Fun.|||Focus on the FORCE behind your punch, and NOT necessarily the speed!|||find something that makes you have to react faster . Is cardio kickboxing legit or should i go to an actual boxing school?
I wanted to take up cardio kickboxing at a martial arts school. But im not exactly sure if cardio kickboxing teaches you legit boxing.

If you were having a simulated boxing match, what variables would you put in?
Say you were putting up a simulated boxing match with Ali %26amp; Louis. You would put in the variables of height, weight, styles, punching power, styles and speed. What else would be a variable?|||This is one of the best questions i have had the pleasure of answering on yahoo and some think nobody has thought of asking before.
I would stick in with the ones already included defensive skills which would have head movement, reflexes and blocking. Heart would be there as well in terms of ability to take a punch to the chin and another for the body. Footwork would be in it the variables being foot speed and technique in the movement. Stamina would definitely have to be there. And finally the fighters best type of an opponent and worst type of an opponent which would also become an added variable of there own style for example Ali fought best against sluggers/brawlers his weakness was against boxers who could punch. Louis fought best against sluggers/brawlers his weakness was against quick slick boxers.

After you make people miss how do you make them pay in the boxing ring?
My footwork, slipping, bobbing and weaving and all that stuff seems more developped than the rest of my boxing game. What do I do to practice getting punches off when I am rolling my shoulders avoiding shots? Any specific hand bag drills/combos etc? Any advice at all is welcomed.|||Robin ~
In my opinion, your best bet is to have your trainer work the pads with you. Have him throw a shot at you, you slip the shot and counter on the opposite pad. This is a great workout. Ask your coach to watch tape of Manny Steward working the pads with any of his fighters and the intensity involved, it%26#039;s pretty incredible.
Another thing that you can do which was incredibly successful with a young Mike Tyson is work the Mazie ball. The Mazie Ball is a speed bag filled with sand that hangs from the ceiling by a rope, the bag should be even with your face. Get in you stance and push the bag away from you as the bag comes back in your direction throw a series of punches let the bag come as close as possible to your face the slip either to the right or left side, keep your head going from side to side at least four times until you time the ball perfectly and it slips by your head on the way back, hold your position in the center throw four fast punches and wait for the ball to comeback at you a repeat the process. Try it a few times and you%26#039;ll get the hang of it.
Tie a rope from ring post to ring post, cutting the in half. Get in your stance, make sure the rope is just touching your shoulder, bend you kness enough to where your head goes under the rope. Keeping your hands up throw a punch with the hand that your head is on the side of, meaning if your head is on the right side of the rope, throw a right hand, if it%26#039;s on the left throw a left. Stay in your stance and work yourself to the opposite corner. Make sure when you%26#039;re moving forward you pick your front foot up and sliding your back foot always stay in your stance and when you reach the opposite corner work going backwards this time pick your back foot up and slide your front foot. This helps you work the slip and counter.
There are so many things that you can do these are just a few. I hope this helps and good luck Robin. Peace. Thanks for the question.|||Robin, spar, spar and spar some more. Get in the ring with a trainer and work with the punch mitts. The trainer if he has a body belt can wear it and you can work in body punching also. Double end bag work is good for that also. A qualified trainer would help you immensely. A second set of eyes looking at your technique and balance is of great value. A rope tied from ring post to ring post diagonally can help also. You can bob and weave under the rope throwing punches as you go try doing that for 3 minutes, it%26#039;s a great workout.|||The best answer that i can give you is this, hit the person as fast as you can when they miss.
Speed %26amp; stamina are the equal to power when use the right way. So rember when they swing and miss you swing and connect multiple times might i add.
Read this book: Boxer%26#039;s start up by doug werner|||Sparring. The more rounds your spar in the gym, the better you hand/eye coordination and counter punching will become. Same said for defensive work and foot work.
Believe it or not, the simple (or not so simple) act of juggling three or more tennis balls does wonders for hand/eye coordination and hand speed. Makes timing a fighter%26#039;s movement fun instead of work.
The best (or worst depending on your personality) is good old fashioned road work. Nothing can be substituted for conditioning. Wind to spare in the later rounds makes all the difference, and lack of stamina has ended more fights than punches have.

What was it that made you fall in love with the sport of boxing?
Oh man!!!!! I wouldn%26#039;t know where to begin. From my insipirations like Ali, Leonard, Duran, to the modern greats to the difference with the other sports. It is the ultimate test of will. What are the chances of seriously injuring one's hands in amateur boxing?
If someone wants to be a pianist or surgeon or something requiring lots of manual dexterity, would boxing be a problem?
I understand everything carries a risk, but is it common?|||yes... for those professions, I would not recommend boxing... broken hands are more common in professional boxing than in amatuer boxing, but still in amatuer boxing it is quite common.
I suppose you could fix it by not hitting so hard... but then what would be the point of boxing.|||very high.
Even with a good wrap job, obviously hand inuries are common.
If you want to avoid broken hands and broken noses, probably a good idea to avoid boxing.

What should I keep in mind when shadow boxing?
I%26#039;ve been in a traditional noncompetitive art for years. We do forms, ground work and locks.
I%26#039;ve decided that I want to learn muay thai. For like 5 minutes they had us shadow boxing. I%26#039;ve never done anything like that before. I%26#039;m used to kata, but not this.
What should I try and focus on? How useful do you think shadow boxing is? What are the pros and cons?|||Shadow boxing is very useful in a number of ways. Gentle type shadow boxing is a way to warm up and elevate your body temperature so you can more effectively stretch. It also can help to make your combinations smoother and faster; especially some of the more complicated ones where your body or muscles seem to lock up or freeze when doing them at full speed. It can also help show you small mistakes since the combinations and techniques are being executed more slowly and you can more closely pay attention to them rather than worry about an actual opponent. It is also effective in helping people develop their foot work, balance, and coordination and teach them how to better move laterally, backwards, and at angles-not just forwards when throwing combinations and techniques. It is much easier to start to develop all these things first rather than in an actual sparring session if you are not particularly coordinated or light on your feet. Besides the above reasons it is also a good way to cool down so that your body is not as stiff and sore after a particularly hard workout.|||you must think that you are punching your worst enemy|||Combos, footwork, punching through the target,

Just like a kata, during shadow boxing you need to imagine an opponent. Unlike a kata it is not made up of predetermined moves, which makes it a hard concept to grasp for a martial artist.
You need to imagine yourself fighting someone. Do lots of combos and defenses. Move around a lot, but not in linear motion. Let your mind run free, no matter how crazy the attacks you can imagine. And most importantly have fun with it.|||Try not to hurt your shadow too much as you are boxing it. It will never forgive you and may even leave home.

I want to loose some weight (like 70lbs) and i need to get active by doing something. So i thought maybe boxing would be good. I heard it burns a lot of calories and my cousin wants to do it with me so now i can go. Im 17 and i found some classes that i am intersted in. Will it help, should i join, is there any information about boxing for weight loss, ive googled but couldnt find much|||i never had to loose much wieght, but i know a bit about it. boxing is a very good sport to help with weight loss. it will help your cardio and muscle build up also. so you will be in better all around shape as well.
i would advise you to do boxing but i would advise you not to compete or spar or those things unless you are very confident and don%26#039;t mind getting hit. the workouts in boxing are great though.
also intergrate running and things like pushups situps and wrestling. those are things that will build your muscle (sometimes small invisible muscle) and will make a lot of difference in your life. they will also help you loose weight. i suggest you start at a good pace and not overkill yourself untill you are worked in though. and use good equipment. (bag gloves and handwraps) you don%26#039;t want a broken wrist. and one big tthing DO NOT give up. work yourself and try to have a goal in mind before each workout. try but don%26#039;t need to reach that goal. just remember that anything is better than nothing. so keep at it and don%26#039;t stop after 2 weeks. because the work you do after you want to quit will be the most important.
good luck to you and i hope you enjoy the wonderful sport of boxing. and again don%26#039;t let people ruin it for you so don%26#039;t fight someone just because they ask you to. get in shape and then see where your at.|||Boxing is a good way to loose weight...if you stick with it and work very hard at it...its not an easy sport...you have to work out everyday and you can%26#039;t eat a bunch of junk either...but its a very good way to loose weight and its an awesome sport|||well boxing will help you get active, but you would need to box everyday to be active, or do some form of exercise..
in my personal oppinion i would wrestle, it uses more energy than boxing in my oppinion, and you can wrestle on teams, or even at your high school.
for websites i would suggest food pyramid, and, umm i%26#039;ll have to get back to you on this one.|||A friend of mine began boxing a while back, he started at 230 pounds and a year later he was 165. if you stick with it and are very serious about it, it is clearly a very good way to lose weight and add muscle, but don%26#039;t forget to watch your diet too|||for weight lose swimming is best.
boxing will help you beat the crap out of skinny swimmers.|||no not really.
you just jump and hit people
its good for anger issues i guess.|||I have been through it all and know what%26#039;s it about. The main thing is to stick in there. You can%26#039;t be an addict to food and never exercise if you want to live a healthy life and keep the weight off. I%26#039;ve worked out, done every diet, and all types of classes.
Nothing works, besides dedication and intelligence towards the subject of losing weight.
First, depending on how much weight you need to lose, your diet is the first concern. You can%26#039;t eat 10,000 calories a day and expect the weight to come off, even if you are exercising a lot. Which brings us to the next thing. Duh, Exercising...
This is a must especially if you need to a lot of weight. Get at least 30 mins of some good hardcore exercising. Do some cardio, in the long run, it%26#039;s good for the heart.
However, I find the most hardest part of losing weight/keeping it off, in my diet. It%26#039;s so hard to keep your fingers out of the cookie jar or those chocolate goodies. I%26#039;ve found a great addition to help any one out, it%26#039;s a natural weight loss supplement called Proactol. Now don%26#039;t get all crazy on me and say diet pills don%26#039;t work. That is true, but not in this case. This one isn%26#039;t meant to burn pounds while you sit on the couch. It%26#039;s an appetite suppressant, along with being a fat binder. I saved money on the pills at theweightlossplace .com along with getting some good info. It basically makes those fingers not go towards the cookie jar. For me it%26#039;s the best pill I%26#039;ve tried and I%26#039;ve tried cupboards full. Now this doesn%26#039;t mean you have to follow my foot steps but I%26#039;ve successfully lost roughly 70 pounds and keeping it off til this day.
Well good luck and remember what I said, Dedicate.

Is it a waste of time learning basic boxing techniques online?
I don%26#039;t have any boxing clubs or anything in my area and it really bites because i%26#039;m a huge boxing fan and i%26#039;m in great shape already. I%26#039;ve always wanted to learn.|||Its okay as long as you practice, if you practice jabbing and the basic maneuvers yourself you will improve GREATLY, but like one reviewer befor me said, a good trainer will push to your limits, tell you what your mistakes/weaknesses are, and help you become as close to a perfect fighter as you can be.|||Its not a waste if your willing to train as hard as you can, its not going to be as good as having a good trainer, but when you go to the gym all they do is show you how and push you to work hard.
Calvin Brock learned to box from boxing videos and a boxing book his father picked up. He went undefeated and challenged Wladimir Klitchko for the heavyweight title. Although he got knocked out he gave a good account of himself in the fight.

both are excellent sites,
watch boxing and actually watch it, study them and watch what they do, pick it apart and apply it in your training.
watch guys like Whitaker,Maywather,Jones, Oscar and Winky Wright. Those guys all had wicked defense. Which is the thing you want to work on most.
The biggest thing you will be missing by not joining a gym is sparring with other boxers, you learn more in a sparring session with another boxer then you will learning techniques for months.
So try and get a friend to study and train with you. I find its not hard to find guys to throw on gloves and go at it. They will do for honing your skills but your not going to learn nothing new sparring guys that don%26#039;t know how to box. But you can practice your skills.|||learning from a book or on line is ok to a certain extent, but you need a trainer to really push you to your limits, and to correct all the little mistakes in your techniques.
you also need practical experience, ie sparring (and lots of it), and amateur bouts.
in the meantime, keep practicing and good luck for the future.|||no it%26#039;s not.
if you learn online, study the videos and are find your style, shadow box your a$$ off and find a friend to spar with and fire punches at you while you try to master your style, then you are miles ahead of the average fan who %26quot;thinks%26quot; he can do it.

What is a good cardio boxing routine?
I hold the focus pads for my girlfriend and need to keep the routines interesting and challenging. Has anyone taken any cardio-boxing classes and can share the routines used there?|||I have a heavy bag and i will do rounds like say a 2 or 3 minute round where you just jab then rest 1 minute then do another round where you do hooks then rest and so on. For a challenge what i do instead of resting in between rounds i also have a speed bag so i do 1 round the go to the speed bag for 2 or 3 minutes then round to and so on. Its a great work out really works the whole body. If you want to try the speed bag get the large one for beginners then move to the small one. there not as hard as it seems. punch on that speed bag for 5 30 minutes and tell me if your arms and traps and shoulders dont burn.
How can I become a boxing judge?
I%26#039;ve been a lifelong fan of the sport. I love boxing and watch every fight I can. A judge would be my dream job.|||I judged for six years, both amateur and pro. It is an experience I would recommend to anyone who would like to get involved in the %26quot;nuts and bolts%26quot; of a boxing event. Having an official %26quot;say%26quot; as to who won or lost a fight. . . it%26#039;s hard to explain just how great it is.
I%26#039;d contact your state athletic commission, and ask them how to proceed. They%26#039;ll probably tell you to get experience in the amateur fight game, first (that%26#039;s what they told me). I joined a local boxing gym, asked if they needed a judge, and for a couple of months I sat and observed their sparring sessions and tournaments. Then I was allowed to sit next to the official judges at the table to observe and learn. The conversations with various judges over the years while I was learning were some of the most educational discussions I%26#039;ve ever been part of. Lots of insight as to HOW to properly judge, and which judges are full of BS. . . .
Actually, in the amateur tournaments, I was simply %26quot;trusted%26quot; to do the right thing (A 20-dollar annual fee to USA Boxing, the national amateur organization, is all that really got me started). With that membership card, it allows you to be %26quot;credentialed%26quot; at amateur shows, but also you%26#039;re VISIBLE and remembered by %26quot;big wigs%26quot;. . . . .
Best of luck, and I hope to see you on HBO soon!|||All you need to be is either inept/corrupt and you are good to go. Promoters will be calling you all day and night!

Who do you think will win in the boxing match between Manny Pacquiao and David Diaz?
Dubbed as %26quot;Lethal Combination%26quot;, the Philippines%26#039; %26quot;Pambansang Kamao%26quot; Manny Pacquiao faces defending champion David Diaz for the World Boxing Council lightweight crown this June 28, 2008 in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. If Pacquiao wins, he will be the only Asian to win four world boxing titles in different divisions.|||i go for manny, not only because im from general santos, but because of his skill, power, and the tenacity to fight fight fight regardless of the adversity. though i do not consider diaz a lousy opponent, but fact is, manny is faster and more powerful. speed might be the crucial factor here and certainly manny is quicker faster. so go manny!!! make us prouder...|||First of all, let it be known that although many have referred to David Diaz as a Mexican, he is actually an American. He was born and raised in the city of Chicago, Illinois.
Now, to answer your question....
Manny Pacquiao has championship experience in facing the best featherweights in the world. His two wins over Juan Manuel Marquez, two wins over Erik Morales, and two wins over Marco Antonio Barrera have proved that he is the best fighter in the world at this weight class. However, this many wars will wear on any fighter and moving up in weight poses considerable questions to his future success as Manny will have lost a little bit of both speed and punching power.
In David Diaz we have a fighter that, other than fighting Erik Morales, hasn%26#039;t fought big names. However, he has shown great stamina and boxing skills in the lightweight division.
This been said, I think the fight will be a tough fight for both. My predictions: David Diaz wins on a split decision. Manny%26#039;s punching power and speed will be diminished. Either way, this fight will be great for all boxing fans!!!|||Although Pacquiao has had to move up a weight class and Diaz is seasoned at Lightweight, I believe Manny will be too fast and too powerful for Diaz. Manny is a real proffesional, and although he has spent a lot of his spare time promoting the bout, I have know doubt the he is totally focused on not just beating Diaz but knocking him out. I don%26#039;t however believe this will happen. I%26#039;m going to predict a unanimous decision Pacquiao%26#039;s way.|||By the way, YAW%26#039;LL, Philippines is part of SouthEast Asia. So, that makes it part of ASIA!!! Pacific Islanders are more from the east of SouthEast Asia. This debate has been going on for hundreds of years between Asian countries because of the invasion of the Philippines by the caucasian people made the country seem like it has no Asian roots.
To answer the question, hands down, PACMAN.|||LOL. A Filipino is someone who is from the Philippines. And Philippines is in ASIA! wtf?
I personally think Pacman will win (not because I%26#039;m a Filipino) cause in the past few years I have seen his improvement in his fighting skills, as opposed to the skills he had in his earlier years which is basically throwing his left punch.
I have also seen David Diaz fight but as far as aggressiveness is concerned, my vote goes to Pacquiao. Although *maybe* Diaz%26#039; stamina is a bit tougher than Manny%26#039;s.|||The first fighter who blinks gets knocked out.
I already told Manny this, so I think he will win. But that is, if he does not blink. Oh, I forgot! I think I whispered it using the Bosnian Herzegovinian language. I just hope Manny understood.
Now, about this Asian Vs. Pacific Islanders issue. Both camps are wrong. We%26#039;re neither Asians nor Pacific Islanders.
We%26#039;re actually part of the Lost Continent of Atlantis!!!|||If I would guess and can decide about the future of that fight, of course I want PacMan to win that battle. But in reality, nobody knows what would be the result of their fight, all we can do is wait and see for ourselves how PacMan and David Diaz perform. They both deserves to win and winner or lost they have already proven to their countrymen and fans that they are champions.|||A recall during my childhood, I had been encountered several fought in boxing without gloves against my enemies before who had different in sizes, but for me through my personal experience, a little advantage in weight is not big deal in boxing sport, determination to win, moderate practice, good health, bravery are the winning factors in boxing sport.|||I really want Pacquiao to win but upon looking at Diaz, I perceive that he is determined to win and defend his title. It, sure, will be a very tough fight. It%26#039;s a 51-49 fight (Diaz-Pacquiao). However, I believe that luck also counts a lot aside from prayers, therefore, Pacquiao has a chance to win.|||I%26#039;m a Filipino therefore I%26#039;m rooting for Pacquiao. He is also voted as the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world today.
However, David Diaz is a natural lightweight; while Pacquiao is only stepping to that division.
While I want Pacquiao to win, I think Diaz will win the match.|||I am a Filipino, proud of my race. Proud of my flag. Proud of Manny Pacquiao, win or lose.
And I am praying, together with the rest of the 88 million Filipinos, including Pacman%26#039;s mother, that he will KO Diaz.
And my heart will surely bleed if he loses.
And sayang my pay-per view if I will only witness our countryman%26#039;s defeat. I can not even take the thought!|||I still go for Manny Pacquiao...go go go Manny my kababayan... I know he can make it with so much training and determination...also our prayers too.
The Philippines is part of Asian Continent and member of the regional organization the ASEAN (association of southeast asian nation) ...that%26#039;s why Manny P. is true-blooded Asian and Filipino by Nationality...|||After long and careful consideration, I am going to say PacMan gets KO%26#039;d.
I have been predicting a Manny win, but I just don%26#039;t see it. He has been knocked down frequently in his last few fights...
Diaz is naturally bigger and stronger...
I know that manny has the speed and experience and so on, but this will be an early TKO win for DD.
i hope pacquiao wins. i hope he had enough time to train. i hear he was a few weeks late again for his training in the states. I think pacquiao is getting too confident the more fights he wins. he almost lost the morales fight...|||I%26#039;m a fellow Filipino, and I hate Manny Pacquiao, my reasons are stated in my very own question: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?...
So yes, I%26#039;m a fellow Filipino rooting for Diaz to win, and to bring Pacquiao back down to Earth, cuz the Pac-Man is just too damn mayabang or boastful...|||if you are a true fan of athletics, you shouldnt be watching lightweights like this, unless you%26#039;re like my brother 5%26#039;4 and 120 and he thinks lightweight boxers are the best, its all about the real athletes middle weights and above, back in the days they didnt even have divisions under 150|||Manny Pacquiao will win. They are both KO fighter but giving punches he is way out of Pacman. He will get 3 to 4 combi and he can retaliate nothing.Anyway he win or not he still the winner to all Filipino hearts.Pray for him and be one of us Pinoys.|||I think Manny Pacquiao will win the boxing match because I believe that he has already a lot of experience in fighting that could gave him an edge to his competitor... he has a lot of strategies... and he fight for his countrymen...We should be proud of him!!! that%26#039;s all...|||either ways....
you can only predict who will win.......
if pacman will play as he play with marquez he might lose the fight..... because he was mess when he fought marquez he just got lucky beceause he knock marquez down........
i think pacman gain weight...the power of the will still be there but the speed will be reduce.....if he will be able to adjust from his weight maybe he will win|||funny--- debate about filipinos being an islander or an asian--- kung ako tanungin ASIAN all the way-- but there is some bits of reason naman bakit pacific islanders--- hmmm
pero asian pa rin--- kaya nga southeast asian countries.
Pacman gets my vote (wait are we voting? hahaha)|||off course he will win coz filipinos are born to be a figther strong faith in god.and he has the determination to win for his country to bring again glory to philippines nation .proud to be a pilipino .....|||off course it will Manny pacquiao........
he already won three titles on three different boxing division so it was very noticeable that he will going to win...........

Best of luck.

How do I know if I am getting a good boxing trainer for the right amount of money?
I%26#039;ve never seen my nearest boxing club but the guy who is in charge there trained his son all the way to state and his son is now boxing for Perdue. Would this be a good place to learn how to box? Also I would like to know a price range for getting a boxing trainer.|||Check out his reputation!!!!|||Sir, its kinda like buying a car. you know what you want, but is the price right? Well, as a former fighter, and a current trainer I know a lot about how you feel. Three weeks ago I completed and filed all of the necessary paperwork for a young amateur in Houston. Today we watched Holyfield in El Paso. Tomorrow we train 3 hours prior to returning to Houston. The Paperwork filing, the training, the networking, transportation, accomodations, equipment, the sparring, the gym fees all cost me money. In this day and time, you%26#039;ll get charged for cost of living, also.....just look at the price of gas nowadays. There is no standard amount but you can, and should certainly call around. Trainers are always trying to underbid other trainers.|||To be honest usually trainers only charge for the price to register you as an amatuer boxer and possibly gym fee%26#039;s..the trainer there has to get some kind of credibility for training his son to state but it also depends on how hard you the boxer trains and how serious you take the sport..I know before I started I had no idea what I was getting into being that the training is so intense and grueling but when you win the outcome is 100x greater..good luck
What is best to take to lose more weiht kick boxing or karate?
I want to lose alot of weight in 2 months and i heard that either kick boxing or karate will be a good way to do it. I just dont know which one is better.|||I%26#039;ve done both......well actually all three. I%26#039;ve studied Karate, I%26#039;ve kickboxed and I%26#039;ve lost weight.

Good luck.|||I would take up karate because it helps with discipline and respect, as well as helping out in getting in shape and losing weight.|||Probably kick boxing.
I believe there is more calorie burning involved then traditional karate.|||my answer is karate is best for lossing weight cause i were in karate class, i am yellow belt. I lost my weight lit bit then i work out as much as tue and thur both week, it just i lost lot weight|||i think both have their benefits with regard to losing weight. in kickboxing the activity is nonstop and the intensity is amped up, so most definitely you%26#039;re gonna sweat a lot. plus, it also helps develop your stamina so that you can go longer as your body gets used to the strain. in karate, it%26#039;s more of a body balance thing in the sense that all the katas %26amp; stuff work every part of your body, albeit in a non-frantic way.|||kick boxing is definetly better!! You are moving non-stop for 45 min. so if your not afraid to sweat like a pig be my guest and try it. trust me!!|||Most likely Kickboxing. Why?
Because Kickboxers generally train to compete or with people who compete and their workouts are better tailored for athletes, rather than weekend warriors. That means you%26#039;ll most likely be sparring, training full power with pads, being pushed harder etc as opposed to kicking and punching air. I think that the self defense applications of kickboxing are better than most karate as well, and personally I find the kickboxing classes alot more fun than karate (more fun means more motivation to keep it up, and the more you do it the more weight to lose). I also find that when I spar in kickboxing I push myself alot harder than I normally would because I%26#039;m not concentrating on how tired I am, but what the other person is doing.
Of course this is a generalization since all classes are different and you haven%26#039;t said which karate you would consider doing (Kyokushin is full contact, and the training is harder than your average Shotokan). In then end though, I guess it%26#039;s the one you%26#039;ll enjoy more that will motivate you and make you lose weight over the long term. But I%26#039;d choose kickboxing in a heart beat.

How can i be a good boxing trainer?
Ok im looking to start teaching my 13 year old brother how to box. But i have no experience in boxing, I know there is trainers that had no previous experience and have trained good fighters. So my question is what are some basic training excersizes i can start teaching him? And where can I learn more?|||If you never boxed or trained boxing, you can%26#039;t be a good trainer. You need to know the technique yourself to teach it. You won%26#039;t do your brother a favor if you start teaching him. If he learns a wrong technique it will be hard or impossible for him to correct it later. Get him to a gym or a boxing club, they will teach him. There%26#039;s a reason why trainers their selves take lessons and pay for their licenses.|||get some of these and go to youtube and watch some trainers use them. http://store.titleboxing.com/title-punch...

I%26#039;m also seeing a problem with people asking questions, then never picking a best answer. . . allowing people to %26quot;vote%26quot; for their own answers as best.
Overall, I enjoy this forum. . but I sure wish there was a Basic Boxing Info Pre-Test we had to take to post in here! If their Top Ten List (All Time) includes names like Calzaghe, Holyfield, Spinks, Gatti, or Tyson. . .. then they are NOT WELCOME!|||I should cut n paste an answer right out of

Is there a community college in Los Angeles where I can find boxing classes?

How do i get my feet more quick for boxing?
I have been boxing for about 5 months and have mostly been working heavy bag and sparring.|||Jump Rope forward and reverse but I also use ankle weights when I run.|||what if i told u that jump rope is the most important thing is boxing, jump rope until you cant feel your calves no more, thats what I do, and I move like roy jones|||Jump rope with using one leg and switching to the other and then jump on you heels and switch to jumping on the balls of your feet but in sequence. If you do that good your going to be light on your feet.|||jump rope works but my trainer will tie my feet to a rope about 2 and a half feet apart to move my feet it helps with foot placement balance and quickness
Is there a difference between boxing gloves and kickboxing gloves?
I%26#039;m taking a kickboxing class. It%26#039;s light sparring most of the time. We were told we could buy our own gloves since the school ones smell bad. While I was looking them up online, it looked like boxing gloves were different from kickboxing gloves. Is there a difference? Can I use boxing gloves for a kickboxing class?|||it depends. i would ask your school. some of the gloves used in some classes are designed to be light and allow for grappling or grabbing an opponent. boxing cloves force you to make a fist and keep it that way.|||I am a boxer and kickboxer there is no differance other then you don%26#039;t want to use your bag gloves for sparring gloves. What moment made you fall in love with boxing?
Mine was when I watched a tape of the first Evander Holyfield and Riddick Bowe fight. I have never enjoyed a fight as much as I enjoyed that one. I didn%26#039;t care which one of them won, I didn%26#039;t analyze the tactics they were using and I just enjoyed the fight because it was a great fight. I didn%26#039;t have the understanding or perspective of boxing as I do now and that is why I loved that fight so much.|||Ive used boxing for fighting since I was a sophomore in highschool, and I instantly fell in love with the power it gave me, I mean have you ever seen a person with boxing training fight a person with no training? It made fighting childs play for me, as well as made me one of the most feared guys in schoo, and I just kept training in it. But What made me follow boxing as a sport was when I saw the old Ali Frazier fight where joe floored Ali with a left haymaker-hook, When I saw that, I got hooked on the sport. Then I started rewatching old Julio Cesar Chavez fights, and that cemented boxing as my favorite sport ever. I had seen JCC fight when I was younger, but really, I was just seeing two guys punch each other until one fell down. only when I got older was I able to see the technique and beauty within the brutality of the sport.|||Im 22 now.... 3 moments that made me love boxing were:
When Holyfield first unified the titles! I was young but i remember! He was an underdog. Thats the first WARRIOR i saw in the ring!
When Roy Jones Jr put both hands behind his back and knocked that dude out! I still think that was the best knockout ever! I mean come on really Roy! Why u do him like that LMAO!
And when i saw Floyd knock Hatton out and the Brits still were chanting %26quot;theirs only one ricky hatton%26quot; as the dude laid on the ground. Thats just a shows what true boxing fans go through. We see the rise and fall of boxers all the time. Us boxing fans feel like we are part of whatever boxer we love! I almost cried watching Roy get pounded by Cal, Pavlick getting punded by BHOP, and Taylor getting pounded by Pavlick.|||What made me fall in love with the sport is when i saw popo freitas fight.. he was a nobody from brazil and was ko people out.
after that i been fallowing the sport..
also the heart showed on the ring and the desire to win made me fall in love with the sport.|||When George Foreman (age 45) knocked out Michael Moorer (age 26). How much does a boxing match cost to put on?
I want to put on a boxing match at a local civic center, but before I go through all the work, I was wondering the cost of putting one on? Don%26#039;t count the civic center, but count the cost of paying a low level boxer, the officials for the event, boxing ring, etc.
Thanks,
Jamie|||Don%26#039;t waste your time trying to sell that. Here%26#039;s what I would suggest. I work in advertising and I help promote alot of businesses with the most affordable budget.

2) You can easily find local boxers there.
3) You need medical staff. That%26#039;s where the money is going out.
4) A Referee.
5) Flyers ( I do these at my business.)
6) A Great Card. Reasonable Admission.
7) GREAT LOOKING RING GIRLS.

At what age should someone start working on Boxing, I also want to know how should I train at my age?
I%26#039;m 14 and want to get into boxing. Is this a good age for me to start? also how should I train at my age?|||It%26#039;s definitely a good age. In Asian cultures, they begin Muay Thai from an early age and this gives them extra time to get their technique together.
You will find classes at the local youth club and many boxing gyms have classes for younger students.
Learn learn learn and your coach will let you spar only when you%26#039;re ready. Don%26#039;t be one of the Youtube idiots fighting in a backyard. Then you can decide how serious you want to go. What do you think about tim witherspoon's son taking over boxing?
I am a fan of tim witherspoon and i heard that his son has taken on light weight boxing and has even put a few winnings under his belt. I also found out he is a rapper also he goes by the name AP The Monarch. I haven%26#039;t heard his stuff yet but what do you think about his son being the next champion in boxing?|||I think it is great, that tim%26#039;s son is following in his footsteps. How long should I wait to quit my boxing class?
I%26#039;m a few months pregnant, and in boxing you get hit in the stomach all the time. What to do?|||Your pregnent? are you a f*cking Red neck retard?? why would you Box while your pregnent,I bet if you told anyonr they would Kick you out ASAP,enjoy your pre mature deaf and Blind baby.|||for one thing - theres nothing WRONG with women boxing , i box my self. so for that guy above me he need to shut up or she.
another thing
i dont see why it would be a problem leting your trainer know your preg. you can take a break until after a couple months the baby is born or if you really just want to stop boxing, let em know. but do it asap. you dont want any risk towards your baby, it really shouldnt be a problem. go in tell them today if possible, just let em know asap.
congrats by the way.|||Are you actually sparring? At our gym, we have certain days for sparring and others for a basic workout. The workout days include 3-minute rounds of warm-ups, heavy bag, shadow boxing, speed and double-end bags and mitts with the coach. There is no contact with each other on the workout days other than hitting the mitts. Obviously, if you are pregnant, you cannot spar and risk harming your baby.
Depending on how long and at what intensity you have been training at, you can probably continue to do a basic workout (such as the above one) for much of your pregnancy. You will need to slow down and modify it as you get later in the pregnancy. With one of my sons, I ran 3 miles a day up to the day I went into labor. Why is it so hard to find a Boxing Gym to learn boxing for the sake of physical fitness?
I live in a fairly small city. I am 35 and was considering taking boxing as a means to fitness. I can%26#039;t find one. I take Brazilian Jujitsu, but would like to take boxing as well. There are MMA classes, Karate, Taekwondo, Kungfu, everything except for boxing. Why is that? |||Where are you located? Our boxing gym allows boxing for fitness as well as boxing for competitors. How do I start boxing when theres no boxing gym?
I live in the country and theres no boxing gyms anywhere|||easy... just look for videos on the internet of how to box, dont buy any fancy equipment, all you need is 1) jump rope to start working on your footwork 2) a mirror so that you can see ur technque and compare it to watever youve seen. and to work on your head movement 3) hang from a ceiling or bar a small bag of some sort maybe a bit bigger than the size of your fists combined. push it , and wait till it comes and move your head, that will help you out alot
also you should do alot of shadow boxing|||well for a start, you can work on your fitness. start jogging daily, do jump rope exercises, push ups for your chest, do plenty of ab workouts, a boxer needs to have a strong core, start shadow boxing too, get a heavy bag and hang in in your room and start working on it.
watch some real games and learn how to throw different types of punches.
the internet is loaded with beginner guides for boxing.
hope that helps !|||Either start one,or watch instructional videos and learn, work out and shadow box.

I%26#039;m a healthy weight but my arms seem really undefined and flabby. Is boxing a good way to give me some definition and how long and how often should i do it for?|||low-calorie diet and intense cardio|||Yes, as long as you want.
What would be a good storyline for a boxing video game?
It%26#039;s goes w/o saying that FN leaves much to be desired in that section. So, what would you do for the storyline of a boxing video game??|||I checked out a lot of games at http://www.videogameslot.com/Video-Game/... looking for boxing games and there isn%26#039;t that many. I think a good story line would be about an up and coming kid (teenager) and you get to go through his career from amateurs to retirement!

Is it possible to compete in amateur boxing without a trainer?
I recently moved a month ago and I want to compete in this tournament coming up. I don%26#039;t belong to a gym or have a trainer now so I am wondering if it is still possible to compete. Will USA Boxing assign me someone in my corner at the tournament? I still workout and have all th equipment in my basement, but I have no trainer right now. But don%26#039;t be surprised if you get your *** beat.
Is it illegal to punch down in boxing when the other guy goes low to avoid your initial punch?
I never see this when I watch boxing matches so I was curious as to whether this was legal, illegal, maybe just rare or hard to pull off or what.|||no it is not illegal to punch down but it is illegal to hit on top of the head. some boxers will purposly dip that low so the other boxer can%26#039;t legally hit them which is also illigal. it is not rare and it is not hard to pull off. it happens in a lot of fights and is often the source of the controversy of when a boxer gets hit either on top of the head or in the back of the head.|||If you never seen this in boxing then you need to watch the 2nd fight between Margarito vs cintron. Margarito would throw non stop punches and instead of cintron clinching he would neal his upper body down and get hit behind his head. That happened a couple of times until cintron complained to the ref. I don%26#039;t think it should be illegal if while the punch is being thrown the opponent causes that by tililting down as the punch is being thrown. I don%26#039;t think it should be illegal if the other fighter throws the punch at the same time! I think the the other fighter should learn how to clinch!....?|||The second gentlemen who answered is correct. Punching down is okay, as long as you manage not to land anything on the back of the head, which could be somewhat difficult to do during the heat of battle.|||Not illegal as long as you don%26#039;t hit him in the back of the head. The rabbit punch is illegal and is hitting in the back of the head while erect.|||If you do that on purpose of course

were cooking for mine and hubby parents on boxing day a full 3 course meal. What can we make. There will be six of us. Can you give me some ideas and recipes please. No ham, gammon or pork. Im pregnant so also no foods that pregnant women cant eat or an alternative for me

Has the increase in popularity of the UFC actually helped boxing gain more exposure?
The UFC has soared to new heights in 2007 and boxing is enjoying one of it%26#039;s beast years in over a decade. In recent years it has been rare for a Welterweight fight to have such main stream exposure. I would say the UFC is helping the fight game period, be it boxing or MMA.|||yea it has, but u get good and bad publicity.|||I think it has for a short period of time, and i mean very short.

Especially kickboxing and wrestling.
It would be a defenitely great combination, boxing can condition you and give you good coordination for upper body and karate will give you great combinations you can try and obviously kicking, also it can use elbows and knees, it%26#039;s gonna change you immensely from hands to many other stuff. Good luck and enjoy!
peace|||absolutely... but when they teach you to punch differently in Karate... do it as your instructor tells you to.. or it may be disrespectful.... Karate and TKD punches requiremore rotation with the arms and less with the hips and legs.... and Boxing teaches you to rotate you lower body more (but you dont have to worry about protecting your lower body in boxing)... but ultimately its up to you.... which one you enjoy more, not everyone who learns Boxing or Karate or TKD or Muay Thai (check out Muay Thia... its pretty cool) wants to compete in a MMA event.... its no different than choosing to play basketball or tennis... play the game you enjoy the most... and have fun and train hard... good luck|||The one person was right, you can mix it vey well but you will be taught to punch differently in karate. Try it out. You might find you prefer karate punches after you learn them. You will still have your boxing skills but learning a second way to punch coud prove useful.
And the kicks will definitely add another element to your overall skills.
And most importantly, IMHO, you will learn more about defense. Often a boxing guard doesn%26#039;t work well in a real fight (without gloves) as the fists are smaller and harder. Try getting hit in the back of your hand to see what I mean. It hurts like %26quot;h3ll%26quot; at the beginning.
I say go for it. If you don%26#039;t like it , you can quit..ha ha.
Good luck!|||Yes, you can and it would be quite a practical and effective tools in your arsenal of techniques.|||Yeah
Called MIXEd martial arts...|||I do Taekwondo so you might not think I was in the same situation that you are right now, but I think its rather similar. I had done boxing for 3 years prior to starting TKD, so i know where your comming from. I actually do mix my boxing with my TKD and it works out great for me. Since in my TKD school our instructor teaches us kick boxing and Muay Thai, I had a big advantage because I already had boxing skills. and even more, when you get in a fight, boxing takes over for my hands and TKD for my feet, so its a good combinaiton. In fact, it feels very natural for me to fight that way and it works out great, and i have a feeling that it will work out great for you if you mix your boxing with your karate because you will have that punching strength for karate that you gained in boxing and you will also be more conscious about how many times you punch and when to punch. If you want a good example of how effective combining martial arts is, go watch K-1 or UFC. Also Tony Jaa does TKD and Muay Thai and his moves look cool (I think they could be effective too, but alot of people say no, so you be the judge of that. heres a link to his video, its cool XD http://youtube.com/watch?v=epJuNCOGjio ) hope I helped. Peace and Goodbye!|||idk bout the effectiveness of karate%26#039;s kicks as i took it when i was like 7 so we never learned anything but yea people use all kinds of martial arts together in MMA fights, idk about that as a prevalent combination but its not bad in any way to mix them.
