I plan on writing a book about the psychology of boxing. I am a therapist and boxing/fight enthusiast. I have read quite a few boxing biographies and every other boxing related book I could get my hands on. Any ideas or must-reads? Opinions or chapter ideas would be helpful also. Any similar books out there? Thanks!|||Good luck, I couldn%26#039;t find anything so there is definitely a market for your book, why not read up on the basics in Sports Psychology:

What are good boxing techniques to use if figting someone taller and stronger?
Also id like to know if anyone has any boxing workouts to use when training for a match?
thank you|||do your regular workouts but twice as much. and if you are fast go fast and take alot of body shots move fast. i should know i box|||I wouldn%26#039;t worry so much about the strength part. All you need to figure out is does the taller person punch from the shoulders (high) or like to lay back and use his reach (low)
if they are high that mean they have no legs under them (stance is weak close together) they are leaning into their punches
if that is the case get inside/underneath smother them and do work. if they are low they should have a wide stance
step on their lead foot when coming it. they%26#039;ll lean back 100% of the time. Do work once again. continue this back strategy until you have totally demoralized them and they quit.
easy work.|||you should being doing the following squats, squat-thrusts, wall-ball shots (squat while throwing a medicine ball against the wall), sit-ups, pull-ups, push-ups, kettle=bell swings, thrusters, bench press, run long distance, run short distance. running is very important; if you can%26#039;t run you won%26#039;t be able to fight. you should pick a group of these and set up rounds of exercise. for example run on a tread-mill for .25, do 20 bench press (just bar 45 pounds), 30 jumping pull-ups, 40 sit-ups, 50 squats. then do this for 6 rounds. for more on exercise go to crossfit.com
as for boxing itself...
you need to work on slipping so have someone throw straight punches at your head and practice the v-slip and the u-slip.
practice combinations. find combinations and assign numbers for them. then work with gloves on focus mits and have the person with focus mits call out a number and you will do the combination.
for someone tall than you speed and inside fighting will be extremely important to work on. so when you spar you will need to bend your knees a lot and really get low to the ground. this allows an easyier target for you on their lower body around the kidneys and liver.
put your arms over someones shoulders and let them take body shots at you for rounds of 3 minutes followed by a minute rest. do this at least 5 times every boxing workout. then 5 more times with you just blocking and them hitting you. they will ocasionaly throw a jab to your head to keep you honest about blocking your face as well. do this right before regular sparing
Lastly and most importantly run, run, run. roadwork is essential to a boxers workout. you should have days for running long distance and running days for sprints. don%26#039;t run everyday but run at least 4 times a week and 1 of those being your long distance.|||Get inside and %26quot;chop the tree down.%26quot; But be careful. Don%26#039;t wing away with both hands and leave your head exposed, because your head is right where a taller fighter wants it.
Training: cardio, cardio, cardio. Keep up the bag work and some light sparring until 48 hours before your bout. Keep up the cardio until 24 hours before. From that point on, relax your body and try to get your mind into proper condition.

What are the best amateur boxing gloves i can use for a tough man boxing event?
Ok, so i am interested in putting together a tough man boxing event. I want to take as many safety measures as i can. I was wondering what amateur gloves are best for safety? I know that they have gloves out there that reduce shock. I just don%26#039;t know which ones. Can i get some help? Also what headgear is best to use for safety?
Thanks for the help|||.|||Ringside has a large selection of fight gloves, from MMA, sparring, boxing, any martial arts type of gloves. They also come in many different weights. Usually in tough man contests the fighters wear 14 or 16 ounce gloves [most states that allowed sanctioned tough men contests require this], seldom 8 and 10 ounce gloves are worn, but this is for matches not sanctioned by the state. Everlast also makes a decent glove, check the padding on the knuckle area, remember to wrap your hands, this will protect your knuckles. I prefer Everlast head gear, with no sissy bar. Real men don%26#039;t use sissy bar head gear. I wish we had a tough man contest near me, it would be fun.|||If it%26#039;s for a Toughman... 16 oz, no less. And since the fighters probably aren%26#039;t trained, the cut of the glove probably doesn%26#039;t matter.
Ringside.com usually has live representatives on their website that you can check with and ask their opinions on different gloves. Ringside.com sells Ringside, obviously, but also Grant and Reyes, I believe, as well as Adidas Amateur gloves.
Let us know which ones you pick.|||twins? everlast? grant? winning? reyes? lonsdale? either one of those would do..............headgear could be same as the brands i mentioned.shock absorbing gloves would be everlast.

How come someone from one boxing organization can hold a title from another?
Lets say Boxer A is in the WBC (World Boxing Council.) He weighs 190lbs, so he would be in the Junior Heavyweight division. He wins the WBC Junior Heavyweight Championship, yet also hold the World Boxing Organization (WBO)%26#039;s Junior Heavyweight title at the same time. How can they do this?|||They can hold titles in more than one weight class. It is perfectly allowed, it%26#039;s been done before by plenty of people. You just have to come back up or down to defend the titles against the number one contenders every six months. But it gets tiring very fast which is why things like this don%26#039;t last very long and they often choose to vacate one. Also after a while the two organizations will make you pick after it starts to affect their business. But as long as you the necessary defense it is allowed.
What boxing matches resulted in you getting so hyped up with the result that you couldnt sleep?
What are some of your favorite boxing results that hyped you up the most that you couldn%26#039;t get to sleep that night? Happened to me several times.|||i forgot who he was fighting but when Muhammad Ali knocked some dude out during the first round by getting him in the corner and punched him like 15 times in like 3 seconds|||you shouldn%26#039;t get so excited its only a boxing match your twisting and turning will keep little rebop awake and its not good for his schoolwork is it?..try and get some more sleep as this reflects in your answers people wont understand your gibbering is due to sleep deprivation and think you a little crazy..|||The fights that hyped me the most were Trinidad/De La Hoya and Mayweather/De La Hoya, ironically they didn%26#039;t live up to the hype.|||i would say chavez vs taylor 1, even tho i was a baby when it happend lol, even still when i watch it that shits still dope!!!, its all about chavez!!!|||I have DVDs of the Gatti/Ward trilogy fights %26amp; I get so hyped up watching them that I can%26#039;t get to sleep unless I watch a PBF fight afterwards .......zzzzzzzzz|||Leonard TKO 14 Hearns. I was so sure that Tommy was going to beat Ray and i had talked so much junk to my friends! I wasn%26#039;t so much hyped up at the result as i was let down. I couldn%26#039;t sleep from the shock that Ray had beat my man Tommy!
Hagler TKO 3 Hearns. This is the one that had me hyped up for a week straight after the fight! I picked Marvin to win but i had no idea that it would be such a classic!!! I didn%26#039;t sleep for about 12 hours after that fight was over! We partied all night!!|||jorge vaca beating lloyd honeyghan in %26#039;87/%26#039;88... i couldn%26#039;t believe it! i was a huge honeyghan fan back then,
alternatively, when frank bruno beat oliver mc call, i was so happy for him after three failed attempts!

What round in boxing is there most likely to have a knock out?
I need to know what round in boxing is someone most likely to get knocked out on average?
It is a heavy weight boxing match.|||8
|||It all depends on the fighter. You can have a fighter like Mike Tyson who came into the ring to knock you out in the first round. I would have to say on average it would be around the 6 or 7 round.|||I would say the first round. Many fighters come out not warmed up and get caught with a big punch that will hurt them in the first round . This punch later in the fight after being warmed up will be absorbed much better.

How do I get into boxing promotion and eventually become a professional boxing promoter?
I wanted to see how I could get into promoting boxing. I know there can be a lot of money in that field and it is a field I would be interested in having a career in. Is there anyone out there that knows the steps I need to take and what is involved in becoming a successful boxing promoter?|||Most start off as boxers, trainer, managers then promoter.|||i am a starting promoter. you need to get as much information as you can in your state for licensing, get surety bonds, learn the game inside and out, thats the most imporatant part. other wise you are swimming with sharks who will try to bleed you. make friends with some fighters abd gain their trust
